COVID Recovery Iowa

The Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) is pleased to announce the State of Iowa has received nearly $1 million in funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to offer free crisis counseling to any Iowan who has been affected, in any way, by the COVID-19 public health emergency. The program, COVID Recovery Iowa, is available now. Counseling will take place via virtual sessions, chat, or phone call. People of all ages may join groups online to find support and learn new strategies to cope with the effects of the pandemic in a variety of creative ways.

Iowans can access services through the following options:

Call 800-447-1985 to connect with a counselor specializing in rural issues and agriculture 24 hours a day, seven days a week
Call the Iowa Warm Line, 844-775-9276; to connect with a peer counselor or request to get in touch with a COVID Recovery Iowa counselor
Visit www.COVIDrecoveryiowa.org and complete a contact form and a counselor will get back to you DHS has contracted

In addition, COVID Recovery Iowa is offering virtual support groups for pre-teens (elementary), teens (middle and high school), and parents.

The Siouxland Community Health Center provides medical and dental assistance. The sliding fee scale is available to families who qualify.

Child Health Program
The Siouxland Community Health Center Child Health Program provides Well-Child screening examinations and immunizations to qualifying families with children from birth to 21 years of age.

SCHA administers a wide range of affordable housing programs and resources. These programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The Welcome Home Program is an innovative initiative that combines transitional housing and outreach services to get homeless families in Siouxland off the streets as soon as possible. Our mission is to give those families a safe, furnished place to live, clothing and food; but more importantly, it is to provide them a chance to work one-on-one with a family development specialist working toward self-sufficiency & permanent housing.

Rosecrance provided a range of family support services including counseling, support, education, and information. One of these support services is the virtual parent support group. Parents need to know that they are not alone as their adolescent or young adult struggles with the disease of addiction.

Prevention and Early Intervention Program (PEI)
The Rosecrance PEI Program is an evidence-based alcohol and drug education program designed to provide education, support, and direction
to teens and their families who may be at risk of more serious involvement with alcohol and other drugs.
