Sioux City students head to school for the 2017-2018 school year

Students across Iowa have completed their first day of school for the 2017-18 school year.

In Sioux City, the first day brought district superintendent Dr. Paul Gausman to each of the district’s 20 elementary, middle and high schools.

We caught up with him this morning at Loess Hills Elementary on the west side.

“This is one of the most exciting days of the year. This is one of those times where we get to say happy new year and in education where we get to say it twice a year. I want to do all I can to say thank you to our staff members. Those who are really close to the kids are the ones that are making a difference everyday and I want to thank them. And of course I want to welcome the kids back to school,” said Dr. Gausman.
