Siouxland’s KID TALK to Feature Loess Hills 4th and 5th Graders
Kid Scoop News and Siouxland Public Media will be collaborating this winter with Loess Hills Elementary School in Sioux City. Students from the 4th and 5th grade classes will be producing their own Author Interview features to be aired on KWIT and published in Kid Scoop News Siouxland. They have a very special list of authors and musicians who will be interviewed:
- Artie Bennett: Peter Panda Melts Down and Poopendous and others
- Doug Woods: Old Turtle and Raccoon Moon and others
- Kyle Carrozza: cartoonist and producer of Cartoon Network’s Magiswords and others
- Mike Langley: local songwriter, Iowa Rock n Roll Music Association Hall of Fame
These students will work during the months of January and February gathering information through interviews and other sources, writing, revising and publishing scripts and articles and ultimately producing their pieces for broadcast. In addition all tech aspects of production will be developed by the students. Watch for these special pieces in the March issue of Kid Scoop News and on KWIT during the months of March and April.
The following students are participating in the KID TALK project along with teachers Amy Lofland and Cindy Bigbee. Heidi Vondrak, Dr. Beeck and Layne Henn will help facilitate the logistics of the program with Kid Scoop News and Siouxland Public Media.
