Local leaders visit Career Academy program at SCCSD
Sioux City schools is showing off one of their programs for local leaders today.
Dr. Paul Gausman is taking city council members and business leaders on a bus tour of the district’s Career Academy program, which gives students a chance to explore more than two dozen different career paths and even earn college credit while still in high school.
“Our goal is that students not only leave with a diploma, but they have a diploma and a plan for their future. They use our 30 pathways to explore whats available to them. They use our thirty pathways to figure out what they like and maybe, even what they don’t like and have some training, some certification and some college credit ready for them for the future,” said Superintendent Dr. Paul Gausman.
Gausman says he hopes the tour will lead to new partnerships with local businesses to offer internships to students in the Career Academy.
