The Sioux City Community School District (SCCSD) has been invited to join a small number of districts to participate in the Future Ready Schools (FRS) new initiative: Digital Equity Program. The program, led by the Alliance for Excellent Education and AT&T’s Aspire Initiative, was created to help improve education opportunities among students of color, those living in rural districts, and those from low-income families.

The FRS Digital Equity Program is a 5-month pilot project that guides and supports a small sample of district leadership teams through the Future Ready Schools five step planning process. The Alliance for Excellent Education will provide additional support to districts to form an implementation plan for student-centered learning upon completion of the program.

The results of the pilot program will form the design, and potentially the initial membership, of a network of dynamic district leaders representing high needs students across the country.

Participating districts from across the nation include: Bibb County, GA; Colton Joint UNF, CA; Florence Township School District, NJ; Harrison School District No. 2, CO; Highline School District, NV; Los Angeles UNF, CA; Lyon County School District, NV; Newburgh City School District, NY; Newport School District, AR; Oceanside UNF, CA; Plano Cust 88, IL; Pontotoc Co School District, MS; Prince George’s County Public Schools, MD; Rio Rancho Public Schools, NM; River Forest Community School Corp, IN; Rowland UNF, CA; Sioux City Community School District, IA; Stephenville, TX; Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint UNF, CA.
