North High Dance Squads place first at Nationals
The North High dance squads swept the competition by placing first in all categories the teams competed in at the Marching Auxiliaries National Dance Contest last weekend. The competition is held annually in Fort Worth, TX.
The North High dance squads competed in five of the 13 dance style categories represented in the contest, and took home first place trophies in all events. The North women’s teams competed in military, pom, prop, and kick. The All-male team competed in hip-hop.
During the two-day competition, 150 studios, private, public, and parochial schools presented a combined 1,000 performances.
“The competition is fierce, but the North High dance team students were well-prepared. Hundreds of hours of practice go into making the teams’ routines top-notch. These students give it their all,” said April Netley, the dance team’s coach. “I am so proud of their effort and accomplishments at the National contest. It was an honor for all of us to represent Sioux City at the competition.”
The North High dance teams are coached by April Netley and Haley Hutton. More information on the Marching Auxiliaries National Dance Contest can be found at https://www.maux.com/framenationals.html
