Heidi Anthony named SCCSD Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment

The Sioux City Community School District has named Heidi Anthony the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. The school board approved this hiring decision on April 23, 2018 and Anthony will assume her new responsibilities in July.

Currently, Anthony is a consulting teacher and teacher mentor at Irving Elementary School and a consulting teacher mentor at Unity Elementary School. Anthony also serves on the building leadership team at Irving Elementary and has previously served on the school’s curriculum, instruction and assessment team.

“I look forward to having increased capacity to positively influence and support quality instruction and learning at all levels,” said Anthony of her new role. “I am eager to collaborate with stakeholders across the district as we continue work to ensure all students receive relevant, rigorous, and differentiated instruction that leads to increased student achievement and the development of autonomous lifelong learners.”

Anthony began working for the District in August of 2009 as a fourth grade teacher. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Briar Cliff University and a master’s degree in teaching, learning and leadership from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, MN. Anthony also has an endorsement in English as a second language from Morningside College and is currently pursuing an education specialist degree in curriculum direction and administration (expected completion August, 2018) from the University of South Dakota.
