See local history through the eyes of 4th grade students

Models and posters of local historic landmarks, people, and events created by 4th grade students are showcased in the annual Sioux City History Projects exhibit at the Sioux City Public Museum through May 12.

After their hard work studying local history, 1,032 students from 13 participating schools created projects on Sioux City’s past and present. Projects displayed in the Museum have been evaluated according to their uniqueness, quality and how they relate to Sioux City history. Along with annual favorites such as the Peirce Mansion, Floyd Monument, and City Hall, the unique creations this year include Thorpe’s Jewelry Store, Charles City Hall College, and the South Bottoms neighborhood. The exhibit, now in its 27th year, will be on display through May 12 when students will be honored at a reception and awards ceremony.
