Sioux City Schools’ Superintendent is heading to our nation’s capital to talk about school safety.

Dr. Paul Gausman will address the Federal Commission on School Safety this Thursday.

His talk will focus on what the Sioux City district has done to reduce bullying in schools and specifically the work to reduce cyber-bullying.

Gausman said “I appreciate the opportunity to do this because we are not able to use solutions that might have worked 10 years ago for the challenges of cyber bullying and social media.”

The Commission was created by President Trump in March after the mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida.

It’s members include Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.
