John Pritchard named SCCSD Director of Technology

The Sioux City Community School District has named John Pritchard the director of technology. The school board approved this hiring decision on July 16, 2018 and Pritchard assumed his new responsibilities July 17.

Pritchard comes to the District with extensive experience in the field of technology. He served as the director of technology at Western Iowa Tech in the 1990’s.  In 1994, Pritchard began his own company, Catalyst Solutions, which focused on providing internet and intranet technology services to regional businesses.

Through his company, Pritchard served as a technology consultant for the Sioux City Community School District in the early 2000’s. During this time, his role increased to interim director of technology for the District and Pritchard helped in the search for a full-time director in 2008.

“I am really looking forward to working with the technology department in serving the Sioux City Community School District,” said Pritchard of his new role. “With over 18,000 devices in the District, we have students and employees depending on the technology team to consistently provide service and solutions for so many daily needs. It’s my honor to work alongside the capable hands of the department to ensure we are always delivering a “Future Ready” experience for everyone we serve.”

Most recently, Pritchard continued to own and operate Catalyst Solutions. He sold the company last year and was doing independent consulting over the past year. Pritchard has a Bachelor of Computer Science degree in computer science from the University of Minnesota, Institute of Technology.
