East High Homecoming Week 2018

The theme is “Game Night.” The coronation will take place in the auditorium at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 17.
That evening, weather permitting, the parade will kick off on Morningside Avenue at 6:30 pm, featuring Dr. Paul Gausman, superintendent, as the grand marshal. The parade will also feature the homecoming royalty, the East High and East Middle marching bands, and the East High cheerleaders. Representatives from the East feeder elementary schools will also participate. Following the parade, the Spirit Bonfire on East High’s band field will begin at 8 pm featuring the drumline and cheerleaders.
As part of a service project tied to homecoming week, the student council is collecting new and gently used Halloween costumes to donate to students in East feeder schools. Community members can contribute to this project by dropping costumes off at the East High main entrance or by contacting Michelle Pick at pickm@live.siouxcityschools.com or Tavia Heyer at heyert1@live.siouxcityschools.com.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, festivities continue with the Power Buff Boys’ volleyball tournament during homeroom in the gym. Then, on Wednesday at 3:15, the traditional Powder Puff Football game will take place on the band practice field at 3:15 pm.
Thursday’s pep assembly will take place in the school’s gym at 9:30 am. Then, that night students will rally the East Raiders to victory at 7 pm. Prior to the game, “A Taste of Morningside” will take place at Olsen Stadium, offering a variety of favorite Morningside food options for people to try.
Friday’s dance will take place in the East High Commons from 8:00 – 11:00 pm. Students can purchase their dance tickets at lunch and in homeroom during homecoming week.
Spirit Days for the week are, Monday: Dress-Up Day, Tuesday: Dress like Your Date Day, Wednesday: Class Distinction Day (Freshmen: 80’s, Sophomores: Farmers, Juniors: Hawaiian, Seniors: Togas), Thursday: Crazy, All-Out Orange and Black Day, and Friday: Pajama Day.
