North High Homecoming Week 2018

The theme is “Around the World”. The coronation will take place in the auditorium at 7:00 pm on Monday, September 17.
Members of the senior class will be completing a service project on Tuesday, September 18 in the afternoon. The students will be assembling 200 care packages for cancer patients who receive chemotherapy treatments at the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
The traditional Powder Puff football tournament will take place on Wednesday, September 19 in the afternoon at the Leeds Field starting at 3:30 pm.
On Thursday, September 20, weather permitting; the parade will kick off from 38th St. and Floyd Blvd. at 1:30 pm. The parade will feature Mrs. Mary Madsen as the grand marshal. Mrs. Madsen worked in the Sioux City School District for over 15 years as a math teacher.
The parade will also feature the homecoming royalty, the North High and North Middle marching bands, and the North High activities. Representatives from Bryant, Clark, Hunt, Irving, and Leeds Elementary Schools will also be in the parade.
Friday’s pep assembly will take place in the school’s gym as students rally the North Stars to victory for the 7:00 pm contest with Des Moines Lincoln. The North High Marching Stars will be performing during the half time show.
Saturday’s dance will take place at North Middle School from 8:00 – 11:00 pm. Students can purchase their dance tickets during Homecoming Week.
Spirit Days for the week are, Monday, September 17: City that Never Sleeps (Pajama Day) Tuesday, September 18: Tacky Tourist, Wednesday, September 19: World Cup Wednesday (Wear Jerseys), Thursday, September 20: Twin Cities (Twin/Dress Like your Date), and Friday, September 21: Flag Day (Wear Red, White, & Blue).
The candidates for Homecoming Queen are Anndea Boetger, granddaughter of Pam and Dwight Boetger; Emma Bush, daughter of Stacey and Josh Bush; Madison Ceriani, daughter of Misti and Sergio Ceriani; Maeve Coughlin, daughter of Niki and Tim Coughlin; Sarah Glade, daughter of Lori and Terry Glade; Karissa Koch, daughter of Jenni and Ron Koch; Estefany Martinez, daughter of Brenda Suriano; Lorena Martinez, daughter of Veronica Yebra; Onnia Nguyen, daughter of Angela Reed; and Shay Sargent, daughter of Lisa and Shannon Sargent
The candidates for Homecoming King are Todd Baker, son of Hilda Baker; Maxwell Beller, son of Amanda and Rob Beller; Tyrell Blakey, son of Jackie Blanchard and Sam Blakey; Simon Claeys, son of Kamilla and Lon Claeys; Cale Conner, son of Wendy Walding; Caleb Crum, son of Melissa Johnson and Joe Crum; Elom Gbogbo, son of Ahoefa and Abel Gbogbo; Hunter Krommenhoek, son of Julie and Brad Krommenhoek; Nichols Opsahl, son of Kim and Erick Opsahl; and Dakota South, son of Barbara South.
Crowning this year’s royalty are senior attendants Kylee Eickholt, daughter of Lori Frick and Brent Eickholt; and Matt Hagan, son of Stacy and Wyatt Hagan.
Sponsor of the homecoming is the North High School Student Council. The executive council consists of President Elom Gbogbo, Vice-President Kate Johnson, Treasurer Edgar Munoz, Secretary Lien Tran, Sergeant-at-Arms Eric Divis, Historian Karissa Koch, and faculty advisors Ms. Brooke Herbst and Mrs. Carly Conry.
