Unity Elementary Harvests School Garden
Some SCCSD kids got to taste the fruit of their labor today.
Unity Elementary School has had a school garden for the past six years where students get to help plant and tend to plants such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and even raspberries.
Every year, come harvest time, the plants are made into delicious dishes for the kids to taste.
“Yes, they look forward to it every single year. The great thing is, a lot of them are tasting vegetables that they might not get at home,” school volunteer, Laurie Taylor, said.
Along with their snack, Unity students learned about gardening from Principal Eric Kilburn as he read stories.
