Loess Hills Elementary participates in National Principal Shadowing Week
A Siouxland elementary school principal is taking part in a national shadowing project this week.
This week is National Principal Shadowing Week put on by the National Association of Elementary School Principals.
The nationwide event helps representatives and congressional staff get an inside look at their local schools by shadowing a principal.
On Monday, Kolby DeWitt, a District Representative for Congressman Steve King, stopped at Loess Hills Elementary School to shadow his former principal John Beeck.
Beeck says it’s important for state leaders to see how the principals work and help students each and every day.
“Oh, I think it’s really important for our federal and state leaders and decision makers to see what we really do at ground zero with kids and teachers, and it’s nice to show Kolby what makes up my day and how we help kids and families,” said Beeck.
Beeck was DeWitt’s principal when he was in grade school at Sunnyside Elementary in Sioux City.
