Students at Spalding Park Elementary combine reading with therapy dogs

The Spalding  students got a chance to read and interact with two therapy dogs from “Therapy Dogs International.”

Karen Mohring, a volunteer at Therapy Dogs International said these interactions benefit both the students and the dogs.

“Dogs give unconditional love and a dog will love you forever. And the kids need that, they need to feel that they are loved and by petting a dog it can lower your blood pressure, calm you down, just make you feel better. The dogs? It’s good for them too, it keeps their minds active,” said Mohring.

Both dogs visited a number of classrooms so all of the students had a chance to play with them.
