AF-JROTC students brave cold to honor veterans

Some of Sioux City’s Junior ROTC students braved the weather the honor our veterans at the Sergeant Floyd Monument.

The students guarded the monument for 12 hours today in 30-minute shifts watching over it in complete silence, just like what’s done at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier.

It’s a challenging task for anyone but the students say its nothing compared to what our veterans go through.

“That is only 30 minutes of their life that they have to endure this harsh cold weather while some of our veterans have fought for months, years, decades protecting our country,” said Braxton Howe, an Air Force JROTC Cadet.

This is the programs second year doing the vigil. They hope to continue doing it for years to come.
