Woodbury County receives ACT Work Ready Communities certification
Woodbury County is the first county in Iowa to receive the ACT Work Ready Communities certification.
By having this the county can identify skill gaps and quantify the skill level of their workforce as well as help educators build career pathways aligned to the needs of business and industry.
County and school officials along with Lt. Governor Adam Gregg and Governor Kim Reynolds spoke on how this will not only benefit the school districts but the community.
“It really not only says to employers across the state but to the country and around the world. Hey, we have a work ready work force or future ready workforce ready to meet your demands. That’s a great thing to be touting when we’re trying to grow the economy and really provide opportunities for Iowans,” said Governor Kim Reynolds.
It also helps a community stand out and be recognized for its workforce development efforts.
“The biggest barrier to economic growth in our state is really work force. As we talk to job creators they’re very optimistic of the future projecting significant growth. They need people,” said Governor Reynolds.
