East Middle students prepare for high school by visiting Career Academy

On Friday eighth graders from East Middle School got the chance to look into their future.

The students toured the Sioux City Career Academy in Downtown Sioux City Friday morning.

As they prepare to transition from Middle School to High School, they not only have to decide what classes they want to take, but which careers they want as well.

Today they learned what pathways are offered, and see some of the state-of-the-art technology the Academy has to offer.

Eighth-grader Addyson Junge says it’s a great opportunity to learn and prepare for the future while getting a head start on college credits.

“I think this is a really good opportunity to have a good college experience and to get a lot of college credits,” said Junge.

The Sioux City Career Academy also offers courses to prepare students to take the ACT college admissions test.
