East High and North High selected to participate in the 2019 Iowa Choral Showcase

A Sioux City high school known for their music has been selected to participate in the 2019 Iowa Choral Showcase.

Thomas Hales and the East High School Chamber Choir were one of the few high school choirs in the state selected to take part in the showcase as a performance choir.

The third annual Iowa Choral Showcase will take place on May 1st at Northwestern College in Orange City.

The two-hour concert, hosted by the Iowa Choral Director’s Association, will feature five outstanding choirs from around the state.

“It’s a huge honor. A bunch of schools from across the state submit, and we were the one 4A school chosen,” said Nate Petrik, a member of the East High School chamber choir.

The school was selected after submitting three recordings from the current school year.

They aren’t the only Siouxland school involved in the event.

Sheldon High school will also perform.

Storm Lake, Sioux City North and Spirit Lake High Schools will participate in the event’s clinic.
