Hunt A+ Elementary to present Jungle Book Kids

Disney’s JUNGLE BOOK KIDS

Playing at Central Baptist Church in Sioux City, Iowa

Disney’s Jungle Book KIDS, presented by Hunt A+ Elementary is playing at Central Baptist Church on April 4 at 5:00 p.m. and April 5 at 5:00 p.m. The high-energy musical, designed for elementary school-aged performers, is based on the novel The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling and the Disney film. The Hunt A+ cast includes roughly 60 students led by Hunt A+ teachers Mark Gettner, Jody Nieuwendorp, and Rebecca Vega.

Quinton Hogancamp, a 4th grader at Hunt who is playing Shere Khan, said “I want the mancub Mowgli out of the jungle. Come see us put him where he belongs in our musical, Jungle Book KIDS.”

The jungle is jumpin’ with a jazzy beat in Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS. Specially adapted from the classic Disney animated film, Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS features a host of colorful characters and your favorite songs from the movie.

Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, a human boy named Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, are on the run in the deepest parts of the jungle. On their journey, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin’ musical rhythms of the jungle. After surviving a dangerous encounter with a band of monkeys led by King Louie, Mowgli and Bagheera are forced to run for their lives. When Shere Khan returns, our heroes must rally their fellow animals into battle and restore peace throughout the jungle.  You won’t want to miss this culturally-infused and spectacular Disney classic!

This year’s musical comes on the heels of last year’s presentation of 101 Dalmatians. “Thanks to support from our community, Hunt A+ is able to produce another musical this year. Our students have enjoyed the opportunity to produce live theater,” said Emily Cox, a consulting teacher at Hunt.

Tickets for Disney’s Jungle Book KIDS are $5 and will be sold at Hunt A+ Elementary school March 28-29 and April 2-3 from 8:15-8:30 a.m. and 3:30-3:40 p.m. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.

Disney’s Jungle Book KIDS is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. For more information about licensing Jungle Book KIDS or other Disney shows, please visit www.DisneyMusicals.com.
