Sioux City Symphony Orchestra hosts annual Link Up concert
Siouxland students are getting into a rhythm about the world of music, thanks to the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra.
Over 5,000 elementary students from 40 schools have filled the Orpheum Theater the last two days for the Link Up concert. The concert is part of a partnership with Carnegie Hall.
During the two-day event, students learned about the different instruments, musical pieces, and musicians of the orchestra.
For some of the songs, students were invited to play along with the orchestra with their recorder or by singing.
“I thought it was kind of fun and cool because you got to go along with a big orchestra,” said Payton Vanden Bosch, 4th Grader at Boyden-Hull Elementary.
The Carnegie Hall Program pays for and ships all the music to the schools for free, while the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra picks up the cost of the musicians.
