Career Academy students help ‘0 to 3: Prime Age to Engage’ with advertising

A Siouxland early education campaign is getting some help in advertising their free bookshelves housed at several local agencies.

Wednesday, students from the Sioux City Career Academy unveiled posters they designed for the 0-3: Prime Age to Engage Ad Campaign.

The posters promote the initiative which encourages you to talk, play, read, and sing to kids every day in the first three years to enhance learning.

The Siouxland Human Interest Partnership said they planned on picking the best of the posters, but couldn’t narrow them down once they saw the final products.

“Originally our committee wanted to select a handful of posters, but they were all so good and all really carried forward that message that we just chose all of them,” said Matt Ohman, SHIP Executive Director.

The posters will be hung up at local agencies to promote the free bookshelves the campaign donated earlier this year for early childhood literacy.

One student who works at the Boy and Girls Club said he is thankful for the chance to give back.

“It leaves a big impact on me because I like helping the community, because this is my job I work here at the Boys and Girls Club so I get to work with kids every day and I feel like to give back to them is something that I cannot be more faithful for,” said Ernesto Hernandez, a junior at North High School.

The 0 to 3: Prime Age to Engage campaign also unveiled their Mobile Book Shelf.

This will be taken to public events to provide families with free books to encourage everyday reading.
