West High School student presented with an Educational Excellence Award
The local chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International surprised a West High School student Friday with a special honor.
At an all-school assembly this morning, a Delta Kappa Gamma representative presented West High Sophmore Rosario Chaclan with an Educational Excellence Award.
The award was given to her for a series of projects that she did to raise awareness of mental, physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.
The award representative says those projects gained traction throughout the community and caught the attention of the organization which decided to honor her for her excellence.
Chaclan says the award gives her motivation to keep moving forward with making a difference.
“I feel like right now I’m starting off to a good start, and it’s given me a big push to know that I can be a good leader and do lots of good things in the future,” said Rosario Chaclan, a Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Award Recipient said.
Chaclansays she hopes to go on to do mission work in the future and continue helping people around the country and the world.
