Educators at Unity Elementary welcome returning students
Teachers at Unity Elementary School welcomed back their students a little differently this year.
On August 22, educators lined up and cheered students on as they ran through the tunnel for “Back to School Night.”
The school’s principal Eric Kilburn also got into the action, reading the book “First Day Jitters” over the loud speaker.
Kilburn says the school wants to eliminate any kind of nerves students may be feeling about the start of a new school year.
“So we’re home away from home for the next 180 days they’ll actually spend more time with us then they will at their own home so we want them to feel like this is a place of love a place of caring, but also a place of a lot of hard work,” said Kilburn.
Classes for students at Unity Elementary began on August 23.
