Above and Beyond: Ellie Risdal
Summer may be over but our Above and Beyond Student of the Month award is back for the new school year.
Our first student is East High School senior Ellie Risdal.
You can find Ellie in the choir room rehearsing for East’s show choir, “The Headliners.”
“I put the most time into that. It definitely pays off the most,” said Ellie Risdal.
She also participates in student council and spends her Friday nights under the lights, cheering on the black raiders.
That’s not all, outside of school she’s doing her part to make an impact.
Ellie is also a founding member of You Matter Siouxland.
“It’s a suicide prevention campaign we started around town,” said Risdal.
Ellie said a memory she’ll never forget is joining show choir.
“Tom Hales he’s really helped me. Without show choir, I wouldn’t have made the friends that I had so he’s the one who encouraged me to try out,” said Risdal.
Ellie will be attending South Dakota State next fall to pursue nursing.
