Teachers from Spain come to Siouxland as part of the Visiting Teachers Program

Irving Visiting Teachers from Spain

Some teachers from Spain are now working in Sioux City’s public schools, sharing their language and culture with students and staff.

The four teachers work at Irving Dual Language Elementary School. They’re part of the “Visiting Teachers Program” which has placed eighteen teachers from Spain across Iowa. They teach half of the day in English and the other half in their native language.

Javier Gomez, a teacher from Spain, says he is excited to learn from our country and share his culture.

The teachers are contracted to stay in the states for three years, but they can request to stay longer.
