West High School Homecoming Week 2019

WHS homecoming king & Queen 2019

West High will celebrate homecoming week September 30-October 5. The theme is “Beauty of Life.” The coronation will take place in the auditorium at 6:00 pm on Monday, September 30. A dessert reception will be held in the media center following coronation.

Homecoming Queen: Briana Stanley 

The candidates for Homecoming Queen are: Dacia Jackson – daughter of Derrina Jackson and Calvin Jackson; Anabell Gray – daughter of Brandon and Leslie Gray; Braedyn Downs – daughter of Dynelle and Brett Downs; Briana Stanley – daughter of Rose Stanley; Blanca Topete Andrade – daughter of Pablo Topete and Maria Topete; Kamari Jones – daughter of Antonio Jordan; Blair Bathurst – daughter of Rusty and Crisie Bathurst; Kazzadra Vazquez – daughter of Florencio Vazquez and Gricelda Vazquez; Cassidy Lutz – daughter of Damon Lutz and Jane McKenna- Lutz; and Mia Japel – daughter of Kimberly Forshing and Joseph Japel.

Homecoming King: Javier Fuentes

The candidates for Homecoming King are: Scott Porsch – son of Gale and Thu Ha Thi Porsch; Devaunte’ Coleman – son of Tasha Merrigan; Estevan Quintana – son of Rick and Lupe Quintana; Javier Fuentes – son of Gary Fuentes and Alma Medina; Gerardo Monzon-Ruiz – son of Ana Ruiz; Marcus McCray – son of Kenya Barber; Nicholas Puente – son of Chrissy Vaul; Joseph Grima – son of Stephanie and Jose Rafael Grima; Riliegh Belt – son of Adam and Isie Belt; Kyrel Hanks – son of Nichole and Keith Hanks.

On Tuesday, October 1, weather permitting; the powderpuff game will take place at Riverside Park at 6:00 pm. A metro showdown dodgeball tournament will take place on Thursday, October 3, in the West High School gym at 6:00 pm.

Friday afternoon, weather permitting; the homecoming parade will kick off at Heartland Church on West 19th at 1:30 pm. At 7 pm, the football game versus Marshalltown will kick off at Olsen Stadium. During the half time show, the West High Dance Team will perform.

Saturday night, the homecoming dance will take place at West High from 8 – 11 pm.

Spirit Days for the week are: Monday – Make yourself at home (Pajama Day); Tuesday – Twin day or dress like your date day; Wednesday – Tacky tourist day; Thursday – Class color day; and Friday – School spirit day!
