Chuck Swaggerty donates first round of coats to local elementary school
Kids in Sioux City got some much-needed winter gear on Tuesday.
For the fourth year in a row, Chuck Swaggerty is donating coats to Sioux City Schools.
Tuesday, he dropped off twenty coats to Leeds Elementary.
Swaggerty said he began donating after watching students, at his children’s school, walk through snow and sub-freezing temperatures to get to school without a coat.
“Every year I get tons of cards and letters and notes from kids from all the schools, and it’s very rewarding to me,” said Swaggerty.
Swaggerty hopes to donate 400 coats this year.
If you want to donate money or coats to Swaggerty’s cause, you can bring them to Whistle Stop Antiques on Nebraska Street in Sioux City.
