Irving Dual Language Elementary celebrates with a dance for students AND parents
Students at Irving Elementary School in Sioux City got a chance kick up their heels as part of a reward.
What makes this school dance different is that their parents were also invited.
Irving Elementary is a bi-lingual school with a diverse group of students. School officials give incentives to students when they score well in their PBIS. That stands for “Positive Behavior Intervention and Support”. School officials decided the reward dance should also INCLUDE members of that support system.
“All of our students are from a very diverse background. And I think the parents know and recognize that we have a very safe and welcoming school. This just happens to be their reward that we are giving not only the students for positive behavior but including all the parents and community.” said Maria Ruelas, Irving Elementary Principal.
DJ Maya and DJ Panda donated their services to ensure everyone had a good time.
