Fifth graders explore space through virtual reality
This Friday is National STEM Day, and to celebrate a little early, fifth graders from a Sioux City school had the chance to explore space through virtual reality.
National STEM Day celebrates helping kids advance in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and math.
On Wednesday, Morningside STEM Elementary School students explored the STEM technology z-space at the Sioux City Career Academy.
The students learned about everything from constellations and galaxies to celestial objects.
Organizers say they wanted to highlight some of the great career paths the academy has to offer and get the students excited about their career paths.
“I’m hoping they learned, that was the primary goal. And I hope they have a renewed excitement about coming to school and some of the cool things we have to offer in Sioux City,” said Dave Vickery, Digital Learning Coordinator for Sioux City Community Schools.
This is the first week of the tours, but organizers say they hope to expand them out to other schools around the District.
