Sioux City Community Schools students from East and North were selected to participate in the University of South Dakota Invent-to-Innovate Entrepreneurial Competition held virtually in April.

Students from the Sioux City Career Academy entrepreneurial pathway submitted their entries online, and then the judges watched the video submissions by each team to determine the winners. This year, there were 14 high school submissions by four different schools. Each team submitted a business plan for a new business or a product/service idea using the Lean Canvas format.

Aman Fatima, North High School, and Kylie Wiese, East High School, earned second place in the competition for their submission, International Gifts. This non-profit organization matches donors with people in crisis. The donors provide funds for International Gifts to make baskets to fulfill the needs of the individuals in crisis.

In addition, the following students earned recognition as finalists.
