Student Conduct on School Transportation

Code Number: 709.5

Students utilizing district-provided transportation shall conduct themselves in an orderly manner and respect the rights of others. The driver of a school vehicle shall have the training, authority, and responsibility to maintain order on the school vehicle. It shall be the responsibility of the Transportation Supervisor and/or his/her designee to immediately report misconduct to the Building Administrator of any students who misbehave. Students who fail to behave in an orderly manner will be subject to disciplinary measures as set out in Board Policy 502.1 and the District’s Student Code of Conduct.

In conjunction with disciplinary procedures, the Building Administrator shall have the authority to suspend the transportation privileges of the student.

When special education students are subject to discipline, their Individual Education Programs must be reviewed in determining the appropriate action to take.

A discipline plan will be followed that is premised on consistency, clarity, communication, and follow through.

It shall be the responsibility of the Superintendent to develop administrative regulations regarding student conduct and discipline when utilizing District transportation (see AR709.5).
