Student Guidance and Counseling Program

Code Number: 604.1

The Superintendent or his/her designee shall implement and maintain a comprehensive school counseling program for all students, kindergarten through grade twelve. This articulated, sequential program shall be comprehensive in scope, preventative in design, developmental in nature, driven by student data and, based on standards in academic, career, personal and social areas. The program shall be implemented by state-certified professional school counselors who work collaboratively with the District’s administration and instructional staff and shall support the student achievement goals of the total school curriculum and be equitably accessible to all students.

The program shall be regularly reviewed and revised and shall be designed to provide all of the following:

  • Curriculum that is imbedded throughout the District’s overall curriculum;
  • Individual student planning;
  • Responsive services; and
  • Systemic support.
