Student Transportation for Extracurricular Activities

Code Number: 709.3

Responsibility for transporting students to extracurricular activities, practices, and in-town events is that of the student and his/her parent(s) or guardian(s). The Board, at its discretion, may provide District transportation for extracurricular activities including, but not limited to, transporting student participants and other students to and from extracurricular events.

Students who are provided transportation in District vehicles for extracurricular events shall ride both to and from the event in the school vehicle unless arrangements have been made with the building principal or his/her designee prior to the event. A student’s parent or guardian may also personally appear and request to transport the student home from a school-sponsored event where the student had traveled to the event on school-sponsored transportation.

Provision of District transportation is not precedential from year to year. The Superintendent shall recommend to the Board annually whether the District will provide the transportation authorized in this policy after considering the financial condition of the District, the number of students who would qualify for such transportation, and other factors the Board or Superintendent deem relevant in making budget recommendations that allow for such transportation.
