Treasurer of the Board

The Board shall appoint a Treasurer who shall not be a member of the Board but may be another employee of the Board.

The Board will appoint the Treasurer at its organizational meeting to serve a two (2) year term of office. The person appointed shall qualify within ten days following the appointment by taking the oath of office and filing a bond as required by state law. Such a person shall hold such office until their successor is appointed and qualified.

Several of the duties of the Board Treasurer are statutory in nature. The Board may assign the Board Treasurer other duties. Among other duties, it is the responsibility of the Treasurer to oversee the investment portfolio, to receive funds of the District, to pay out the funds for expenses approved by the Board, to maintain accurate accounting records for each fund, to report monthly regarding the investment portfolio and the status of each fund, and to file required reports with the appropriate state agencies and other entities. It will also be the responsibility of the Treasurer to work with the Board Secretary to coordinate the financial records, the financial reports, the cash flow needs, and the investment portfolio of the District.

In the event the Board Treasurer is unable to fulfill his / her statutory duties, the Superintendent shall appoint a temporary Treasurer to assume those duties until the Board Treasurer is able to resume his/her duties or a new Board Treasurer is appointed.
